From October 27 to October 31, 2025, Astana
International University (AIU) hosted the traditional Biology Week, aimed at
fostering students’ scientific interest, strengthening practical skills, and
promoting natural science education. The week included a program of thematic
activities such as laboratory sessions, master classes, quests, and
intellectual competitions.
The opening took place on October 27 and was followed
by a charity fair organized by students and faculty. All funds raised were
directed toward supporting social initiatives.
On October 28, a quest called “Escape from the
Laboratory” was held for 1st and 2nd-year students, where teams competed in
solving biological challenges and puzzles.
On October 29, participants engaged in microscope
laboratory work and explored various biological specimens and research methods.
On October 30, the intellectual game “Biomillionaire”
took place, where students demonstrated their biological knowledge and competed
in groups.
On the same day, AIU’s Pedagogical Institute hosted a
master class titled “Assessment of Learning. Assessment for Learning”,
conducted by Serikkaycha Sagatbekova, teacher of School-Gymnasium No. 70,
winner of the “Best Teacher of the Year – 2016” award and recipient of the Y.
Altynsarin medal. She shared practical approaches to lesson planning and
formative assessment.
On October 31, the closing ceremony of Biology Week
was held. The results were summarized, active participants were awarded, and
creative performances were presented.
AIU continues to promote educational initiatives that
enhance students’ academic motivation, support practice-oriented learning, and
strengthen the professional preparation of future teachers.
